Betta Fish Care : Feeding My Betta Fish Live Food
In my search for betta fish care I was reading about feeding my betta some live food like brine shrimp or blood worms. I am feeding him the pellets form the pet store now. It says to only give him 5 or 6 pellets at a time. This does not seem like a lot of food. I also don’t know how this can relate to brine shrimp or blood worms. The brine shrimp seems like way too much compared to the little pellets he is getting now.
I am not sure what other people are doing with there feeding habits but I think I am going to stick with the pellets for now and give him the worms or shrimp as a treat.

Betta Fish Care : Betta fish are everywhere.
I am noticing that every where I look I can see that people like betta fish.
Also that there are no shortage of them around. Almost every pet store,
carnival, and elementary schools has a betta fish for a pet. They are just sitting
around on display.
I learned that the betta fish are one of the easiest pets to take care of.
This is a good thing. I was first under the impression that I would be buying
a 10 gallon tank with a filter system and all the usual stuff to go along. I
was glad to be wrong for a change.
The bettas can live off the oxygen in the water for about a week in a decent
size tank without a filtering system. They are a fish that thrive in low
oxygen water conditions. That is a big savings and make it a lot easier to
maintain.

Betta Fish Care : Finally a picture
So today while I was taking care of my betta fish I realized that I am not getting my camera back any time soon. So I took out the trusty old cell phone with its one meg camera so I could get something up finally. This in my betta fish in his tank just swimming by. He got a change of water today and a clean tank. He seems to do very well with the whole cleaning process and getting transferred back into a little cup. I do feed him after the cleaning and transfer so maybe he knows that he will eat after the clean. If you have a picture of you betta feel free to post it up for anyone to see. If people start to post pictures I will try to get a whole section going or something interesting. I am open to all ideas.

Betta Fish Care: Cleaning my Betta fish tank
Well now it has come time to clean out my bettas fish tank. Or at least
it is time for my wife to. I do think it must be done with great care.
I am not sure if it upsets the fish or not but I don’t want to freak him
out if I don’t have too.
We have previously set aside a one gallon jug of water. My wife filled
it up a few days ago and it is at the same room temp as the tank.
Also I believe that it has something to do with chlorine levels. I am
checking into that now. I would like to be able to check the levels
some how.
I took out everything and cleaned it with water only. Placed it all
back in the tank and filled with my aged water. The water temp felt
exactly the same so I put my little betta fish back in and he seems to be
very content swimming around his clean tank.
It seemed successful I guess. I don’t know how to tell if he is unhappy.
All I know is he is in a much larger place then before and is eating well.

My Japanese fighting fish is called a Betta Fish?
Well actually I just learned that my Betta fish is also called
a Japanese fighting fish. Maybee? It also seems that when I first started
doing some research on betta’s I was spelling it as Beta Fish.
I did feel kind of stupid until I saw many other people were
doing the same thing. My little friend seems to have a few
different names. Some are not correct and some I just learned.
Correct ( I think? )
Betta
Betta Splendens
Siamese Fighting Fish
No so Correct ( Need to learn more still )
Chinese Fighting Fish
Japanese Fighting Fish
I was checking things out in Wikipedia so I will give you the link
to see for yourself.

Betta Fish Care: Traveling with a fish
I was doing some research on how to take care of my
betta fish today when I came across this news article.
I once thought that when my betta fish came home from the store
that it must have been very traumatic for him. Even when I change
his water and clean his tank. But that was changed when I read this
article about how long a fish can stay in his little bag.
This is a story about a girl, her boyfriend and
a little betta fish called MJ. It seems that the fish is no stranger
to flying on planes and riding in cars.
I pass along the link so you can read for yourself.

A place for pictures of my betta fish
I will be adding pictures of my little betta fish here very soon.
New to betta fish care?
I am very new to being an owner of a betta fish. I came home one Saturday afternoon to see that my wife was at the pet store and felt bad for this little fish stuck in a very small round bowl. She said that the bowl was so small she had no idea how the fish could even move. Now one fish, fish tank, gravel, and some plants latter I have this betta on top of my tv cabinet that I need to take care of.
So now off to the internet to learn about this little fish and betta fish care. One of the most common thing I learned was the size of the tank. I need to have a big enough tank for the fish to move around in. The biggest reason is that when they open their fins they do not hit them on anything that could tear them.
The other big reason is for the water itself. The water has oxygen in it that the fish needs to live. The bigger the tank the longer the betta can survive on the oxygen. It seems to make sense but before now I had never thought about it.
I will also put up a picture of my new little friend as soon as I get my camera back form getting fixed. If you have picture of your betta fish I would like to check them out.
